A Vintage Play Room and Other Goings On

Hello my friends,
I know some of you have been wondering what was happening with us, because in my last post I told you that my husband and I have been preparing and training to become foster parents.
It was a long process, but we have accomplished it and a one year old boy and a two year old girl have been placed in our care.

They are achingly sweet.
A year ago I would never have guessed I would be doing this and loving it. God has some real surprises for us sometimes, doesn't he!

The new play room used to be my office/craft room, then it was a dining room, and now it's a play room.
I think this suits it best!
This is what the chairs looked like when I first got them.
They were thrift store items, of course, and for only $3.99 each!

They got a nice coat of RED and with a bit of distressing their cuteness shines through.

The table was an end table height, but I had hubby cut about six inches off of the centre part.
I need to paint the top of the table, but I will wait for warmer weather before I spray paint it.
Painting the red chairs was a real experience.
It is a story for another time.

This is the couch that was on my back porch, but with a new paint job and upholstery, it is RED and fits right in, doesn't it!

In other news...
The snow fall here as in most places this winter has been extreme.
Some of the snow banks are as tall as my six-foot tall husband.

The sun has been shining so beautifully that it's hard not to enjoy these busy days.
And busy they are!!!

Our ladies group enjoyed a lunch together recently.
Here are a few of them.
We are blessed.
God is so very, very good.
Thank you to those who have emailed me and left comments telling me that they are praying for me.
I appreciate it and I feel the strength that comes through a friends prayers.

I can't promise that I will get around to see you,
I will try though.

It is wonderful what you both do for the children. Congratulations!

Dear Cindy, what exciting news! I've been without a laptop for a good few weeks and so I've missed all the blog posts, although I tried to catch up on Bloglovin. Although I don't know you personally, I know that you and your hubby will be the most loving parents any child could wish for. If God chose you for the job, then He Who Knows All Things, knows that you are just the right person for the job! Many blessings! Sharon x

I believe you will be great foster parents. I have done it before and, it is difficult to understand how the ministry of children makes its decisions sometimes. When those kids leave your home, know that you have planted seeds of love and compassion that will flourish one day. No matter how small a length of time they are in your care. I don't believe God would waste a minute of them receiving love. God bless!

Magali@TheLittleWhiteHouse said...

Cindy, that is such an amazing experience and one you and the children will never forget. I hope you'll "grow" together from those days spent together. I'm sending you lots of thoughts and some hugs to the children.
